James Ding focuses on investments in Internet, wireless, and new media. He is currently on the boards of BORQS, China Rainbow, IZP, and NetQin (NYSE: NQ).

Prior to GSR, James co-founded AsiaInfo-Linkage (NASDAQ: ASIA), one of the earliest and most successful technology companies in China. During his tenure as CEO, he guided AsiaInfo-Linkage to be the first IPO on NASDAQ by a Chinese technology company. He remains as the co-chairman of AsiaInfo-Linkage, and is an independent board member of Baidu (NASDAQ: BIDU).

James graduated from the executive program at Haas Business School, University of California, Berkeley. He holds a master’s degree in information science from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a B.S. in chemistry from Peking University. James is also a founder of e-China Alliances.
